One of VOCM’s own is competing for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada’s Visionaries of the Year title.
Visionaries of the Year is a 10-week philanthropic competition among business leaders in local communities.
The campaign, which is in its 4th year, for the first time will have a representative from Newfoundland and Labrador—Greg Smith, Program Director of VOCM.
Smith, who has been involved in a number of fundraising campaigns for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in recent years, says he was honoured to be asked to represent Newfoundland and Labrador.
He says he got involved shortly after his friend, musician Chuck Lewis, passed away in 2019. Smith says since then he’s learned a lot about blood cancer and has other people he knows who have been affected. He says his team has been called NL Strong as they are the only team in the province.
The Visionaries of the Year competition ends June 1, 2023 with a grand finale celebration.
I am extremely honoured to annouce I'm running as the first-ever NL candidate in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada Visionaries of the Year Campaign.
I’m happy to raise funds to support education and support programs right here at home. pic.twitter.com/b9BoYzwhLz
