Tens of thousands of people lined the streets of downtown St. John’s yesterday for the Annual St. John’s Santa Claus Parade.

The parade began a little after noon with clear skies before snow began to fall just before Santa made his way down Water Street with his reindeer.

Along with Santa were dancers, marching bands and many unique and colorful floats. Stantec won Best Float over 20 Feet for a lego-themed float (pictured below) while Cougar Helicopters won Best Float under 20 feet.

Employees of Newfoundland Power gathered more than 15,500 pounds of food for the Community Food Sharing Association along with $8,000 worth of loonies and toonies.

Originally planned for last Sunday, weather caused a delay that pushed the parade until yesterday. Parades were also held in Torbay, Mount Pearl, Pouch Cove, Southern Harbour and Placentia.
