Berni Stapleton’s play, Offensive To Some will be back in production as part of the upcoming 2018-19 production lineup announced by the LSPU Hall and RCA Theatre. The decades-old play, deals with domestic abuse subject matter, something the playwright says is sadly still relevant to audiences today.
Stapleton says she wrote the work 25 years ago and it premiered at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. She is thrilled to see it still on stage however she feels it’s disheartening to know it continues to resonate as society grapples with the prevalence of intimate partner violence.
Stapleton, who is also a board member at the arts organization says Offensive to Some is produced by the Persistence Theatre Company and has been picked up by the Resource Centre for the Arts Theatre as part of the presentation program which keeps the message going.

Stapleton says the show continues to be produced so many years after inception because it deals with lasting issues in society. She says everyone will always need more education and reminders about the damage domestic violence can cause.
