Passengers travelling through St. John’s International will see their Airport Improvement Fees increased starting July 1st of this year.
The fees will go up from $30 to $35 dollars per passenger.
The increase comes to help finance the St. John’s International Airport Authority’s new, $200 million, ten year airport improvement and expansion plan.
The current terminal expansion is expected to be completed by 2018, the second phase will begin next year, adding another 72 thousand square feet to the west end of the existing building, doubling the size of airport terminal, and adding six new gates.
The second phase of construction is expected to be completed by 2021.
