There were no injuries as the result of a cabin fire in Bunyan’s Cove around midnight Wednesday morning.
Local Fire Chief Percy Tucker says the lone occupant of the cabin woke to find wall of the cabin on fire.
He says the man was asleep when he started to get hot, and woke up to flames. He ran to a nearby cabin to get help and call the Fire Department.
Tucker says the fire was already well underway by the time they arrived. He says added to that, their pumper truck couldn’t make it all the way to the site.
So they had to use a quad to bring a pump and hoses to the scene. He says the cabin was close to the ocean, so they didn’t have any trouble accessing water, but the cabin was “mostly gone” by the time they arrived.
No insurance was carried.
