The Mayor of Flatrock says a local business is to thank for giving the town a chain of office.
The chain is largely symbolic and is worn by the mayor.
The town put money in the budget to buy one this year, but says there was no guarantee that they would get one.
Mayor Darren Thorne says that’s when Keith Hogan—the owner of District Drugs in Torbay—and his father, Jack, heard about the situation. He says they were eager to give back to the community.
Thorne says Keith and Jack wanted to give back to a community that their store has been servicing for years. Keith and Jack were also the ones who presented him with the chain on Wednesday.
