The Town of Cape St. George is taking composting very seriously.
So seriously in fact that has purchased composters for distribution to residents to help reduce the among of garbage going to the landfill.
Mayor Peter Fenwick says while the composters cost $22 each, the decision to buy them was simple. He says if you use them, you can reduce your waste by about 30 per cent which means in eight to nine months you’ve save the town enough in tipping fees to pay for the composters.
Some 130 composters are being distributed among the 400 residents right now. He says if you don’t have a composter, use a beef bucket and they’ll pick it up.
