The provincial government is offering more than just a pat on the back for people opting to take the stairs. Wellness Minister Sherry Gambin-Walsh announcing the launch of the “Carrots Reward” app at the Ches Penney YMCA today. VOCM’s Gerri Lynn Mackey has this report.
Carrots Rewards is an incentive program that awards Canadians for making healthier choices.
The app allows users to earn points by taking part in loyalty programs that are centered around better lifestyle choices.
A user can collect points from providers like Aeroplan and Scene by downloading the app, referring to friends and taking part healthy activities suggested by Carrots Rewards.
The project is a collaboration of the YMCA and several partners including the provincial government.
Newfoundland and Labrador is the second province to see the launch of Carrots Rewards the first being British Columbia.
Social Change Rewards is company behind the application and CEO Andreas Sovaliotis is looking forward to bringing the program to all Canadians later this year.
