  • Christmas Lights Shine Out, Despite the Falling Snow

Despite the snowstorm that hit the eastern Newfoundland last night, St. John’s shone a little brighter than usual, as part of the Christmas Lights Across Canada celebration.

Five-year-old Natalia Williams and her family did the honour of lighting the Christmas Tree on Confederation Hill, illuminating about 60,000 LED bulbs on trees along Prince Philip Drive.

Meanwhile, others turned their attention to Cabot Tower, as the traditional Signal Hill Star was turned on, joining the countrywide lighting ceremonies in support of mental health.

For those in the capital city who hunkered away from the cold and snow, you’ll still be able to see both sets of lights for the rest of the holiday season.
