The City of St. John’s celebrated some of the province’s top athletes at a special ceremony at city hall last night.
The City handed out the 2017 Athletes and Team of the Year awards.
Liam Hickey, who recently joined Team Canada’s roster as the only Newfoundlander heading to the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games, was declared Male Athlete of the Year. Sea-Hawks soccer player Jessie Noseworthy took home Female Athlete of the year.
Team Gushue was dubbed ‘Team of the Year’ following numerous wins on the world stage, including winning the 2017 Tim Hortons Brier in St. John’s.
