NDP Leader Alison Coffin held St. John’s East-Quidi Vidi last night over former NDP member George Murphy. Many thought the party wouldn’t win a single seat. She proved them wrong and took three.

She assured her supporters that their belief in the NDP matters, and she will work to fight for the issues that will make people’s lives better.

Jordan Brown of the NDP defeated cabinet minister Graham letto in Labrador West by only five votes, which means an automatic recount. He says both camps ran a clean campaign.

Meanwhile, former NLTA President Jim Dinn maintained the NDP seat previously held by Gerry Rogers in St. John’s Centre. He addressed a jubilant group of NDP supporters last night.

He admitted he never imagined himself involved in elected politics, but here he is.
