The fishery committee in Port au Port Bay says oil continues to leak from an abandoned drilling site at Shoal Point. The provincial government has spent almost $300,000 trying to fix the problem but the fishery committee says oil continues to leak into the bay. They met with area MHA John Finn late last week to discuss the matter, and hope for a follow-up with the MHA and the minister of the environment in early September. The fishery committee wants to see changes to the marine regulatory process and to the Canada-Newfoundland Offshore Petroleum Board.
