The long-awaited Corner Brook hospital will soon be a reality.
The provincial government has announced that construction on the new 50,000 square metre facility will begin in 2019 with completion scheduled for 2023.
The new hospital was first announced ten years ago. Premier Dwight Ball says today’s announcement is a continuation of the announced long-term care facility last month.
The hospital will include 164 acute care beds. That’s in addition to a long-term care facility to begin construction later this year.
Health Minister John Haggie says all services offered at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital will be offered at the new facility, as well as an enhanced Cancer Care Program including radiation services.
The announcement was made this morning in Corner Brook.
