The family of Cortney Lake is asking for the public to keep an eye open this long holiday weekend to help in locating possible clues to the disappearance of their loved one.
24-year-old Cortney Lake was last seen on June 7 of last year, getting into a pickup matching the description of one belonging to her former boyfriend, Philip Smith.
Police say she was murdered. Despite extensive police and volunteer searches, no trace of the young woman has been found.
Smith passed away November 1 with no information on Lake’s possible whereabouts.

Her family is making a plea to the public to keep an eye out for personal effects belonging to Cortney as they take to the woods and camping spots this Victoria Day weekend.
The family has provided a poster featuring some of Lake’s belongings. They include a grey Helly Hansen jacket with bright pink trim, black yoga pants, a multi-coloured plaid shirt, dark grey Nike sneakers with pink laces, and glasses. She also had a Guess purse and matching Guess wallet.
Volunteer search efforts are expected to resume “very soon,” the details of which will be posted in the Help Us Find Cortney Facebook page.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
