The elimination of fossil fuels is the focus of a conference to be held this week in St. John’s.
Brett Favaro, Nick Mercer, and Delia Warren are co-chairs of Decarbonize NL set for Thursday & Friday (July 11th and 12th) at MUN’s Signal Hill campus.
Favaro says it’s about envisioning a decarbonized economy. He says climate change is the single biggest policy issue of our time and it has to be taken seriously.
He says it puts provinces like Newfoundland and Labrador, that is very dependent on industrial activities that are greenhouse gas intensive, in a vulnerable place economically and environmentally. He says it’s time to change the conversation.
The conference has proven so popular they had to cap the number of participants at 150 including all walks of life from environmentalists to those in the oil and gas industry.
