  • Deliberations Continue for Third Day at Brandon Phillips Murder Trial

Day three and the jury is still out in the Brandon Phillips murder trial.

Deliberations resumed this morning following a second night in sequester.

The jury had a question for the judge this morning, which was addressed in a closed courtroom, so details of the question cannot be reported. Following that they headed back to the jury room.

Once a verdict is reached by the jury, the judge and counsel will be notified, and followed by a return to court to hear the fate of Brandon Phillips.

He’s facing first degree murder in the 2015 shooting death of Larry Wellman at the Captain’s Quarters in St. John’s.

The jury will meet all day in an attempt to reach a decision. No word yet on how long deliberations might last this afternoon and into the evening.

Along with the media and counsel, Wellman’s family—including his wife Linda—have also been waiting outside the court for the verdict.

VOCM news will have the details as they become available.
