As anglers are getting geared up for the summer, DFO has released the dates and fishing limits for the 2018 trouting season.
The season in Newfoundland gets underway May 15 and runs until September 7.
DFO says the daily bag limit is 12 trout, or 2.25 kilograms plus one trout, while the possession limit is twice the daily bag limit.
There will also be two opening dates for special trout management areas around the island. On May 15, areas will open in the Indian Bay, Northwest Brook, Middle Brook, and Jonathan’s Brook Watersheds.
Then, on June 1, Southwest Pond, Otter Pond, Coaker’s Steady, Star Lake, Adies Lake, and 10 Mile Lake and Round Lake on the Northern Peninsula will be opened.
DFO says management measures for those areas are available in the 2018-2019 Angler’s Guide, which will soon be available online.
The updated Angler’s Guide will be available at this link.
