The opposition education critic is expressing concern for the province’s hearing impaired students.
David Brazil says he has gotten many concerns since the beginning of the school year from parents and students about a lack of resources available for hearing impaired pupils.
Brazil says ultimately, these students aren’t having their needs met. He wants to know why there are not more student assistance and supports in place.
He questions why the resources are not available. Brazil says ASL is the most appropriate way to communication with these students within the school system, and he says every student should be able to communicate within the class setting.
Meanwhile Brazil says he’s disappointed to see another school year begin with no action by government to improve educational outcomes. Brazil questions why the Liberals have done nothing to implement the Premier’s Task Force report’s 82 recommendations in this academic year.
Brazil says it’s ironic that the education minister is showing a lack of urgency when the task force entitled its report “The Time is Now.”
