There were some concerns expressed this flu season with how the province would be offering the annual flu shot – but the numbers show an increase in uptake.
Government moved away from offering flu shots free of charge at the doctor’s office through MCP, and instead offered community clinics this year to administer the vaccine. That caused concern for some groups, including the province’s Medical Association.
But Health Minister John Haggie says already in the season, the numbers are way up.
The Minister says as of Dec. 31st, the province administered over 109,000 doses of the flu vaccine. That’s well above the 106,000 shots given out in the 2016/2017 season.
