One of the founding fathers of the FFAW doesn’t take the ongoing spat between the FFAW and FISH-NL very seriously.
Richard Cashin had a long career as a lawyer, politician and trade union leader. He was a member of parliament for many years and the first president of the Fish, Food and Allied Workers Union.
FISH-NL and the FFAW are awaiting a ruling from the Labour Relations Board on an application for a certification vote from FISH-NL.
Cashin believes fish harvesters in the province are well served under the FFAW.
Cashin says fishers may have grievances and so on, but there is a procedure to deal with that, so he isn’t very concerned.
