Government officials have confirmed that there are currently four investigations underway involving police officers in this province.
Earlier this week, VOCM News reported that there were at least two investigations underway. The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is investigating a complaint stemming from a traffic stop involving RNC Constable Joe Smyth, then came confirmation that the Nova Scotia Serious Incident Response Team is investigating another member of the RNC for an alleged sexual assault dating back a number of years.
Today, the Department of Justice confirmed that a total of four investigations are underway. The Nova Scotia SiRT are investigating three cases, two involving the RNC, and one involving the RCMP.
Meanwhile, ASiRT is investigating one case involving a member of the RNC.
No further details are available on the other two cases at this time.
VOCM News is tracking the story and will have more information as it becomes available.
