The last member of the Michael Brothers Orchestra has passed away. Mack Barfoot posted the sad news to his Facebook page this week.
Drummer Frank Cromwell passed away on Thursday, January 10th, at the age of 87.
Barfoot says Frank started drumming at the age of 13 and by the age of 17 joined with his three uncles, Leo, Freddy and Micky Michael, Ralph Walker and Wilf Lewis.
The band was in demand on the American bases and local clubs including the Colony.
Barfoot says members of the band were like stars to him, calling them his mentors and teachers. Barfoot recalled getting a call from Frank one day asking him to sit in for him, comparing it to winning the lottery.
The Funeral Mass will take place at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
