  • Fresh Supplies on Track for This Week After Outpouring of Support for Community Food Sharing Association

The executive director of the Community Food Sharing Association says they are sorting through food donations received over the last few days and will begin distribution this week.

Over $180,000 was raised and 50,000 pounds of food collected through the VOCM Care Share to Care Food Drive at two Coleman’s locations this weekend.

That, following a devastating fire that heavily damaged the association’s warehouse and contaminated all the food inside. The loss was significant, affecting 54 food banks across the province.

The donations were brought to the association’s new warehouse space in the old Eastern Health kitchen facility on Pippy Place.

Eg Walters says they will start getting supplies out to food banks this week. He says they are up and running and able to start shipping food to banks across the province.

Walters says they don’t want to fill up their new home on Pippy Place with food – they want to get it in and get it out to people.
