The town of Gander is continuing its push for a greater police presence in the area.
Mayor Percy Farwell has written the provincial Minister of Justice expressing the town’s concerns over police services.
He told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly that while the town isn’t crime-ridden, the lack of 24 hour coverage is presenting an opportunity for those with criminal intent.
Farwell says thefts are on the rise, and a steady increase in addictions issues, which police tell them them are related. He says police service in the town is insufficient.
