  • Group Advocates Mandatory Helmet Use for Snowmobilers

A group which represents users of off-road machines says it can’t understand why helmets are not mandatory for people who ride snowmobiles. At least four people have been killed in the province so far this winter as a result of accidents on snowmobiles, yet people can legally ride the speedy machines without any protection on their head.

Rick Noseworthy of the Avalon T’Railway Corporation says such protection would likely help reduce the number of fatalities as most accidents are preventable.

He says sometimes it’s speed, sometimes it’s some sort of impairment, other times no helmet.
