  • Growlers Take Win Over Komets in Overtime

It was a nail-biter, but the Newfoundland Growlers are continuing their winning ways.

The Growlers defeated the Fort Wayne Komets 1-0 in overtime Sunday afternoon in what was “Marvel Super Hero Night” at Mile One.

The Growlers and Komets went to overtime for the third straight game and it was Matt Bradley who scored the overtime winner for the hometown team.

Newfoundland native Zach O’Brien picked up an assist on the winner and now has points in five straight games.

The Growlers now take off for a five-game road trip starting Wednesday against the Atlanta Gladiators.

Indiana Fans Head to Mile One

Meanwhile, a group of passionate fans came all the way from Indiana to watch their hometown team play here in Newfoundland.

14 season ticket holders for the Fort Wayne Komets made the trip to St. John’s this weekend to watch them play the Growlers.

Zack, a Komets season ticket holder, says they are part of a loyal fan base.

He says they love their team and travel everywhere. It’s his first time in Newfoundland and he says he loves the area, but the weather, not so much.
