Newfoundland singer-songwriter Sherman Downey has run into an unexpected setback while wrapping up his Maritime tour.

Downey, who is playing his final show in Halifax tonight, had his gear stolen after performing in Fredericton last night.

Downey says his two guitars, a Yamaha and a brand new Martin, were stolen from his car while he and his band mates ate at a local restaurant.

While disappointing, Downey is very encouraged by the support and well wishes he’s received.

He says he’ll have to rent some guitars for tonight’s show. While he doesn’t think he’ll ever get them back, he is overwhelmed by the support he’s received.
