  • Gulf Ferries Back in Operation Following Weekend of Disruptions

The Gulf ferries are back on track for the first time since the beginning of the weekend. High winds kicked in early Saturday, resulting in most weekend crossings being scrubbed.

There is a significant backlog of commercial traffic waiting to make the trip from North Sydney to Port aux Basques.

Newfoundland Power has restored electricity to all areas following disruptions on the southwest coast for several hours yesterday.

The winds caused havoc just about everywhere on the island, including St. John’s where the College of the North Atlantic on Prince Philip Drive incurred damage. The campus remains closed this morning with an update at 11:00.
