  • Early Morning Armed Robbery Leads to Arrest at Wigmore Court

    A 35-year-old man was arrested at an apartment complex in St. John’s this morning in connection with an armed robbery at a nearby business.

    RNC officers responded to a service station on Kenmount Road shortly before 5 a.m., following reports of an armed robbery.

    A man reportedly entered the business armed with a weapon and demanded cash from a staff member. However, he wasn’t able to get any cash, and instead fled from the scene before police arrived.

    Officers were able to identify the suspect, and track him down to a residence near Wigmore Court.

    At around 6:30, several RNC cruisers and officers locked down the scene, and took the 35-year-old man into custody without incident.

    He’s facing a series of charges including robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, and breach of court orders.

    A situation at an apartment complex off Thorburn Road has ended peacefully.

    Several RNC officers and cruisers descended on the area at about 6:30 this morning. An ambulance was called, and a man who appered to be in his late twenties or early thirties was taken from the scene.

    Several RNC cars and officers are at Wigmore Court off Thorburn Road. Police have not indicated what exactly is involved.

    First responders have since left the area.
