Heritage NL is looking for stories and memories about an older building in the city’s downtown that is about to meet its end.
The old John Howard Society Building at the corner of Water Street and Buchanan Street is coming down to make way for the expansion of the neighbouring JAG Hotel. It’s one of a number of buildings that have been purchased on Buchanan Street for that purpose.
Heritage NL says 426 Water Street was formerly occupied by T. Fitzgibbon, a dry goods merchant, W. Aylward, a tailor, and Kalleem Noah, a Lebanese businessman and dry goods merchant.
Heritage NL is looking for memories or stories about the building from the public.
