Liam Hickey of St. John’s is wasting no time getting his name on the score sheet at the Paralympics.
Hickey scored two goals and added three assists in his first-ever Paralympic sledge hockey game this morning.
Team Canada picked up their first win in a blow out, defeating Team Sweden 17-0.
With the 17 goals, Canada has now scored 991 since Hockey Canada took over the sledge hockey program in 2004.
The St. John’s native who was born without a right femur, is in his second Paralympic games, participating in the 2016 games in Rio with the Men’s Wheelchair Basketball team.
Hickey and Team Canada will be back in action tomorrow against Italy at 7:30 a.m. local time.
