An impaired driver was taken off the road this weekend, after he ran out of gas on the highway.
Just after 9:00 on Sunday morning, RCMP received a tip that a vehicle was stopped in the roadway of the Trans-Canada near Grand Falls-Windsor.
Officers from the town arrived to find that the vehicle in question had run out of gas, and the 22-year-old driver appeared to be impaired by alcohol. He was arrested on the spot.
Back at the station, a test found that he was nearly three times the legal limit.
The driver had his licence suspended, and the vehicle he was driving was impounded for 30 days.
He’s set to appear in court on impaired driving charges in December.
