Newfoundland author Joel Thomas Hynes has won one of the country’s highest literary prizes.
Hynes won the Governor General’s Literary Prize in the fiction category.
We’ll All Be Burnt in Our Beds Some Night tells the story of a man facing trial for the assault of his girlfriend. When the girlfriend dies in an accident, he embarks on a journey to carry her ashes to Vancouver.
His novel was shortlisted with four other works. The winning author receives a $25,000 dollar award.
