The IOC strike continues in Labrador West with no talks scheduled, so organized labour is stepping in to lend moral support.
Hundreds of workers went on strike last week to back demands for a new contract. The Steelworkers Union accuses the company of trying to strip the current contract, while IOC says they have made a competitive offer which includes salary and other improvements.
The District Labour Council is organizing a community protest in support of USW Locals 5795 and 6731. People will march from the Labrador Motors building on Avalon Drive to the IOC main gate picket line. The march is set for Thursday at 5:00, and there will be guest speakers.
