One of the two main towns in Labrador West is considering asking the provincial government for permission to delay its municipal elections.
Election day in the province is September 26th, but Labrador City and Wabush are considering amalgamating.
A feasibility study on that notion is due out in a few weeks, and should the two towns decide to become one, that would mean another election, possibly before the end of the year.
The mayor of Labrador City, Karen Oldford, is concerned about paying for two elections within such a short time.
She says delaying the election would give people an opportunity to have a discussion about all aspects of amalgamation.
