  • Lt. Governor Judy Foote Invests Ten New Members Into Order of NL

Lieutenant Governor Judy Foote has invested 10 outstanding individuals into the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador. A ceremony was held this afternoon at Government House.

Premier Dwight Ball told the 10 individuals they were joining a very select group of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.

Ball says some of those added to the Order today are quite famous—others are not well known at all. He says that’s what makes the honour so wonderful, and tipped his hat to the selection committee for a job well done.

The 10 individuals invested into the Order at Government House today are Joseph Butler, the Honourable Richard Cashin, Paula Dawe, Rev. Arthur G. Elliott, Darryl Fry, Cassandra Ivany, Kaetlyn Osmond, Odelle Pike, John Christopher Pratt, and Dr. Lloydetta Quaicoe.

Joseph Butler, whose father founded VOCM, and who himself launched the VOCM Cares Foundation, a charitable foundation that is marking its 40th anniversary this year. Butler was being inducted in the humanitarian category.

There were nearly 100 nominations this year. The 10 recipients join 100 Newfoundlanders and Labradorians previously invested.

Lt. Gov. Judy Foote commended the group for being shining examples of all that is good about our province.
