The RNC’s Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation into the discovery of a body in the area of O’Brien’s Farm Road and Exmouth Street in the Capital City.
The body of a woman was discovered shortly before 8:30 yesterday morning by a member of the public. Few details are available but police have confirmed that it is not Cortney Lake.
Police are working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death. The victim’s identity has not been released.
Investigators with the aid of a police dog and the Rovers Ground Search and Rescue team combed the area yesterday but there is no word on whether they found anything to do with a possible crime.
Officials would only say they are investigating the incident as a suspicious death.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
