No serious injuries, but the front steps of a home on Carpasian Road in St. John’s were destroyed after a pickup truck crashed into them last night.
The incident happened on Carpasian Road, near Long Pond Rd, shortly before 8:00 p.m.. The driver apparently lost control and struck a utility pole before driving over the lawn, and crashing into the steps of a neighbouring house. Reports from the scene indicate the driver tried to get his vehicle free but failed.
The 34-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with impaired, failing the breathalyzer and leaving the scene of an accident. A passenger in the truck was treated by paramedics at the scene but was not taken to hospital.
He was released to appear in court at a later date.
