A well known business that has been located in downtown St. John’s since 1928 is heading for higher ground and moving to a new location on Kenmount Road.
Owner of the Model Shop, Lori Pitcher says in some ways it wasn’t an easy decision to leave the downtown district with so much history in the area.
She admits there are three major factors that played into the move—including access to parking and having a more accessible location for customers.
Pitcher points to the much talked about Water Street construction project, beginning in early April, saying it will be a relief to get away from the pending upgrade work.
Pitcher says you can’t find parking downtown on the best of days. She feels the pending construction work will make it more difficult and admits she has spent the last couple of years searching for a new location.
Pitcher expects the store to be up and running in the new location at 415 Kenmount Road by June 1.
