An iconic business that had been a rest stop for travelers for decades is closing its doors for good.
The Moorland Motel in Whitbourne posted the sad news to its Facebook page last night.
The owners say that it is with great sadness that they’ve made the decision not to reopen their ice cream parlour and souvenir shop this season and that the motel has also closed its doors for good.
Reaction was immediate with many expressing sorrow over the decision.
In years past the motel was a popular stop for those travelling the Trans Canada to get out of the car, stretch their legs and get something to eat.
In recent years, a greater number of businesses have developed in the area along the Trans Canada, providing more options for those looking for a stop on the highway.
