The City of Mount Pearl wants to become the Silicon Valley of Canada’s East Coast, and it’s counting on your vote to make it happen.
Today, Mayor Dave Aker announced his plan to enter Mount Pearl in the Smart Cities challenge, a Canada-wide contest for municipalities to win up to $50-million from the federal government to improve lives using technology.
Aker says Mount Pearl is ripe with opportunity for the tech industry.
From now until April 2, residents can complete an online survey to help Mount Pearl focus its final submission.
Aker says he’s looking forward to hearing from residents to see what they want for the City of Mount Pearl, and how they think technology can help them accomplish it.
He says they intend to put forward as strong an application as they can, so they want to hear from as many people as possible.
