  • Neighbour Assaulted After Confronting Suspect in B&E

    A concerned citizen ended up in hospital for treatment of the injures he suffered after confronting a suspect in a break-in in South River Friday evening.

    Bay Roberts RCMP received a call about a break-in at a home on Springfield Road in South River around 8:00 Friday evening.

    The suspect fled the scene before police arrived, but a neighbour who witnessed the break-in confronted the suspect who assaulted him.

    The man was taken to hospital for treatment of the injuries he suffered in the altercation.

    Police are searching for a suspect described as about 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10 inches tall, 150 to 160 pounds and with scruffy facial hair. He was wearing dark clothing at the time.

    Anyone with CCTV or dash cam footage from the area, or who has information on the incident is asked to contact the RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
