Two new ferries are about to begin servicing the Fortune-St Pierre et Miquelon run.
The Nordet and Suroit passenger ferries arrived in St. Pierre last night.
The sister ships can carry 192 passengers and crew, plus vehicles and freight.
The vessels will run on separate schedules between both the island of St. Pierre and the island of Miquelon, and are capable of making the 25 kilometer trip between the French Islands and Fortune in just over an hour and a half.
The new ferries will make the French islands more accessible year round, and are expected to increase tourism in the region.
