The Teachers’ Union is responding to questions about the latest tentative agreement reached with government.
Some teachers have gone public, questioning whether the tentative deal is the best that could have been reached and about what one teacher says is a “lack of respect” shown to new and substitute teachers.
Union President, Dean Ingram, says while he cannot speak to specifics in the tentative agreement as it has yet to be ratified, he welcomes input from teachers as they go through the ratification process.
He says the recommendation from the negotiating team, the provincial executive and their joint council is that they’ve reached the best deal attainable at this time.
The ratification vote will take place February 26th.
