Two motorists are lucky to have escaped more serious injury following a dramatic collision yesterday evening.
The incident happened around 6:45 on the section of Robert E Howlett Memorial Drive between Ruby Line and Heavy Tree Road. Two cars collided nearly head-on, almost sending both vehicles into the ditch, and scattering debris roughly 50 metres across the roadway.
Despite the amount of damage to the vehicles, one driver was tended to at the scene by paramedics; the second driver was taken by ambulance to hospital for precautionary reasons.
That section of road was closed for roughly an hour. The operator of a Department of Transportation snowplow assisted in keeping the road blocked, and in the cleanup by scraping debris to the side of the road.
