The police officer called to retrieve the knife suspected to have been used in the stabbing death of 39-year-old Dale Porter was called to the stand at the Al Potter murder trial yesterday.
RCMP Cpl. Jason Butler held up a photo of Ridge Road in Brigus, near the intersection with Long Pond Road.
The officer guessed the area is about two kilometres from the Vikings Motorcycle Clubhouse in Cupids.
In another photo, a stream is visible off the shoulder of the road. This is where the folding knife was found—blade closed, submerged in water.
Cpl. Butler says he retrieved the knife using a latex glove, sealed the knife in an exhibit bag, and turned it over to investigators.
No fingerprints or DNA were found on the knife.
Al Potter is facing first degree murder in Dale Porter’s death.
Court resumes today.
