  • OHS Lays Charges in 2015 Workplace Accident

A contractor has been charged after a workplace accident in September of 2015 that resulted in injuries to a worker on the site of the new Paul Reynolds Community Centre in St. John’s.

The worker was on the roof of the building while it was under construction when he fell through an opening in the roof to the ground below.

Flynn Canada Limited of Corey King Drive in Mount Pearl has been charged with violations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act—including failure to provide a safe workplace, failing to ensure that workers were made familiar with hazards and failing to ensure that temporary flooring was installed in the work area.

The company made a first appearance this week and is scheduled to return to court November 22.
