  • Over 180k Raised Through VOCM Cares Share to Care Food Drive

It’s being hailed a huge success.

The VOCM Cares Share to Care Food Drive in support of the Community Food Sharing Association brought in over $180,000 since Wednesday, and Executive Director of the Food Sharing Assocation, Eg Walters says about 25 cages have been stocked full, and that works out to be around 50,000 pounds worth of food.

The Share to Care Food Drive at Coleman’s locations on Newfoundland Drive and Mount Pearl wrapped up at 1:00 p.m.

    Earlier Story

Volunteers have been busy all day helping out with the VOCM Cares Share to Care Food Drive at the Coleman’s stores on Newfoundland Drive and Mount Pearl.

The drive got off to a huge start with a $25,000 donation from the VOCM Cares Foundation.

Business and community leaders, along with members of the general public, have been flocking to the stores all morning to drop off donations of both food and money.

Even some of the youngest members of the community came out to support the initiative. Jack Perry dropped by the Newfoundland Drive location and used some of his own savings to buy food for hungry children.

Things haven’t just been busy in the stores, however. The phone lines have been ringing all morning with people pledging donations as well.

The food drive wrapped up around 1:00 pm. Anyone wishing to donate can drop in to either the Colemans on Newfoundland Drive or the one in Mount Pearl, or you can also donate by phone at 1-844-552-3067, or by visiting the VOCM Cares website.
