“Third party construction work” was the cause of two separate fibre cuts that led to a widespread cell service outage across much of Atlantic Canada yesterday.
Bell is not saying much about the exact cause of the fibre cuts except to say that they were “accidental”.
The incident knocked out cell service for Bell, Telus and Koodo customers as well as some internet, television and landlines.
First responders put emergency plans in place to allow people access to police, firefighters and ambulance in case of emergency.
While inconvenient, many people went with the flow and the jokes were plentiful, including this video about the Day the Cell Phone Died by a comedy group known as 80s Summer Camp.
