A cadet with the London Police Service is bringing the gift his mother gave the island to the mainland.
Travis Buckle says it all started here on the island.
He says his mother started Warm Hands Warm Hearts in St. John's 20 years ago as a way for residents and police to work together to help those in the community.
The program has people knit clothing, which police then distribute to those in need.
Buckle now lives in London, Ontario and yesterday he officially launched the Warm Hands Warm Hearts in his community with the help of the London Police Service.
He says the program not only benefits the people who receive clothing, but the community as a whole.
He says people are getting the help they need and community members are making a difference while strengthening the bond between the police and the community.
